June 15, 2019 - Update 178

Trash Dog Event # 178
Rogue River Cleanup on June 1, 2019
and refrigerator removal on June 10, 2019

Once again the Trash Dogs participated in the annual Rogue River Cleanup event hosted by the Lower Rogue Watershed Council. The Trash Dogs volunteers focused on the river bar adjacent to the old mill site where they retrieved discarded carpet and carpet padding, a small refrigerator, a tire and of course the usual load of plastic bottles, beer bottles, cans and miscellaneous household rubbish. From there we headed over to the pond located at the old mill site where we pulled another small refrigerator from the pond water along with several bags of trash, dumped clothing and bits and pieces of an old television set. After a job well done we hauled our full trailer up to Quosatana Campground to be emptied and to enjoy the post-cleanup barbeque, thanks to the Lower Rogue Watershed Council.

On June 10th, the Dogs went back to the Rogue River to retrieve yet another refrigerator from the road bank. We used our new electric winch to pull the fridge up the steep embankment and squeezed it under the guard rail to get it up to the road. While we were at it we collected a couple bags of trash that had been discarded along with the fridge.

A special thanks goes out to Wes’ Towing for accepting many of these refrigerators and appliances for recycle, as these things are incredibly expensive to dispose of otherwise.

The Trash Dogs donated the funds to pay for the roll-off dumpster for the Rogue River Cleanup on June 1st. Dump fees amounted to $8.19 for the trash we picked up on June 10th.

Trash Dogs is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit charitable organization. Donations can be mailed to Trash Dogs, P.O. Box 444, Brookings, Oregon 97415.
