Trash Dog Event # 176
Elk River Road on January 15, 2019

The Trash Dogs did some sniffing around on the Elk River Road (Forest Service Road 5325) on Tuesday, January 15th 2019.  Their first stop was the boat launch located one mile east of Hwy 101 where they recovered an old refrigerator from an RV and scooped up a half dozen bags of trash. The rascals that discarded their trash did so into the blackberry brambles making the cleanup a prickly affair.

Another nine miles up the road the Dogs located a second dump site on a spur road. Apparently someone had camped at this site then decided to dismantle and discard the interior parts of their camper along with lots of trash before departing. I guess they don’t care to follow the “Pack it in, pack it out” rule.

Our final stop was six miles beyond the last site, at Sunshine Bar on the Elk River. We collected three more  bags of trash then headed for home. The Dogs on the hunt were Wayne Sundin, Mark Anderson, Randy Patterson and Steve Lowe. Dump fees for the day amounted to $168.75.

Trash Dogs is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit charitable organization. Donations can be mailed to Trash Dogs, P.O. Box 444, Brookings, Oregon 97415.
